A Tick or Game Tick is the time interval used for (almost) all actions in the game. All actions performed by the player must be received by the server, calculations performed, and then a result is output back to the user. Rather than allowing these actions or their results to occur at any time, they are limited to a certain interval of time, approximately 1 second, which is the game "tick" (like the "tick" of the second hand on an analog clock). Most actions in game are limited to occurring on the game tick, including attacks during Combat, item listing on the Player Market, and all Cooldown Timers. One notable exception is casting Spells in combat, such that both casting the spell and the spell effect can occur in between ticks.
