Oil

Oil is a resource used for Smelting and running Mining Machines. At the start of the game, you have an oil income of 0, which you can increase by crafting the Oil Well. When you use oil for smelting, it is all consumed at once, while if you have machinery running it is consumed per second.

If you run out of oil while mining, all mining machinery will be switched off. However, you can configure the Miner to automatically switch on a specific set of machines if this happens, after crafting the Wrench.

Oil Wells

Oil Wells are the primary method of obtaining oil and can be built with the Crafting skill.

Note: that these effects do not add up cumulatively but instead each oil well overrides its predecessor. This means that you will gain just 10 per second with the Silver Well, instead of 16 per second (as was the case in DH2).

Oil Well Orb

The Blue Oil Well Orb will permanently give double the amount of oil from any oil well. This makes the current maximum permanent oil rate 90 oil/second, from a Blue Oil Orb with a Promethium Oil Well and a full Oil Factory and Promethium Oil Factory.

Oil Factories

Oil Factories are an additional source of oil production which can only be built after obtaining the relevant Oil Factory Blueprint. After building the factory, up to 10 workers per factory can be hired for 10,000 , each of which will provide 1 oil/second.

Oil Storage

A maximum amount of oil can be stored, which can be increased by building Oil Storage with the Crafting skill. Up to Oil Storage V can be currently crafted, to store a maximum of 600,000 oil at one time.

Rocket

Main article: Rocket

The Rocket is also a piece of mining machinery that can be used to bring back various resources from the Moon. It requires 100,000 oil to launch.

Potions

The Oil Potion can be brewed with 13 Brewing using a vial, 4 dotted green leafs, and 1 oil. It gives +10 oil/s for a base time of 30 minutes, which can be extended up to 60 minutes with the Diamond Brewing Kit.

The only other Potion that requires oil is the Rocket Speed Potion, which requires 50,000 oil to brew and doubles the speed of your Rocket for 2-4 hours.
